So, we go around asking where the nearest ‘toilet’ is. The security guard says, ‘ah Toilet-Bathroom’ is on the other side’. And that ‘toilet-bathroom’ is said as one word. We had to struggle to pick it up !
We trudge the a small hillock to come in front of this ‘toilet’.
Kodiakanal Municpality
Plan – – RSVY 2006 – 07 ( Tourism Development )
Task : Building of Ultra Modern Men’s toilet
Estimate : Rs. 7.00 lacs
In some distance , i spotted this ‘Modern Mobile Toilet’. It must actually be written as Modern-Mobile-Locked-Toilet. For in the days that i was there, it never was open !
But its a good idea. I wonder, if they would attach it to a tractor or something, and go about town. Like a mobile library or something of that sort.
Hmm. I wonder, how this works.
At Madurai and some other places, i have seen pictures of Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and hold your breath, Kate Winslet, promote bathrooms & toilets!
I haven’t really understood this. To expect a man (or a woman) to get enticed by a Kate Winslet, on a Madurai street’s hoarding to relieve himself or herself and have a bath….is a little far fetched. To my mind.
Irrespective of how much of a fan he or she is of Aishwarya and however many times he or she has seen the Titanic sink…. it does sound a little stretched that he or she will think of such women in a moment of ‘urgency’.
Well meaning friends have told me that i read far too much into such things, and ask unnecessary questions. This is just differentiation, they tell me !
But please tell me, if there were two pay-for-use ‘Toilet & Bathrooms’ next to each other. One sporting a Aishwarya Rai on the hoarding, and another sporting a Kate Winslet….where would you go ?!?
I asked the same question to the missus. She for some reason said, ‘HOME”.
hahahahahahahaha…I am laughing like mad…first, the building of toilet estimated cost, second the mobile toilet, third the actresses promoting them…my god, the whole thing was so hilarious…my husband almost became hopeful that I have gone completely mad 😉
loved each word of this post :)))
Hi!
Congrats! you have received the Humane award. Please check my blog and collect your award.
Happy blogging!!!!
I am laughing on this post.. the last picture is too good.. i could never imagine writing on this subject.. Great!!
how true…Home is the ideal place to go, but sometimes lost in camping, i look out for the ones that say “flush” and “no flush”
wide wild world out there..the loo business is much less spoken topic and sure deserves a prominent place…after all, natures calling!
u r truly brilliant and i admire the way u keep regenerating..im running out on post ideas!!
kavi, good the missus said ‘home’ and not ‘her parent’s home’. What else can she answer to such uncanny questions, and especially knowing that such questions will be required to be answered by her for a life time. Such Aiswarya or winslet questions need to be asked to men.
Enjoyed seeing the pics of the loos.
Loo business is another way to generate employment And is the most important. WE need big houses to come forward And make chain of loos. And yes, charges will be there. I am happy if it is a business. Otherwise you watch in the morning hours people around railway lines, rivers…cheeeeeeee.
i swr i am ROTFLOL!!!! These are pitiable situations …but still we manage to laugh…perhaps no way out ?(Pun intended)
….and then, who’d want to go inside them??? pew!!!! :)))
Wonderful post…..
A careful study of all your pictures actually tells a lot. The Aishwarya/Winslet dedicated toilets are actually well planned.
What an entertaining change from pure and white loos with magic taps and hot air drying machines, and ladies who glare at you when you come in.
Notice , how, unlike the monstrous municipal set up, they advertise their purpose here in several languages, which is so necessary in our country. And locking is never an option here. You need everything to help market the place.
And while you wait for your chance, you can probably read all the ads, phone-numbers, information about emporiums (bottom left), and if you are still waiting, , then give admiring or jealous(as required), smitten or disgusted(as required), glances to Aishwarya, Kareena, and Kate. Never a dull moment, as you wait there with family…
HEH HEH HEH ! LOL & ROFL & LMAO ! This is the most hilarious post of yours, till date, I suppose ! Normally confined to serious, sober topics, this post sees you at your deviant, devilish and blasphemous best ! Still laughing. Had this been in handwriting, you would have noticed some shaking in my handwriting. But then, technogy ‘ irons out’ such flaws and originality !
/** ‘Ultra Modern’ and Rs.7.00 lacs, to me, meant a swank place with heavenly aroma, flowing water, soothing music, spic and span floor. Of course, i was disappointed.**/
For mere ‘ Morarji Cola’ ? I read about ‘ Trickle Down Effect’ in economics, but this about a different TRICK-LE altogether ! John Maynard Keynes needs private tuitions from Kodai Municipality !
/** it does sound a little stretched that he or she will think of such women in a moment of ‘urgency’.**/
Yeah ! This is the understatement of the century !
/**But please tell me, if there were two pay-for-use ‘Toilet & Bathrooms’ next to each other. One sporting a Aishwarya Rai on the hoarding, and another sporting a Kate Winslet….where would you go ?!**/
As a true patritic Indian, I would love to enter the one with Aish picture on it ! I detest Multinational competition entering in such exclusive Indian Arena !
Oh m never comfortable going into public toilets…its dam risky n dirty…lol!!
I have really never seen a mobile toilet like that…lolz, wonder where the outlet was!!
I would go home whatever the picture!! Mobile or portable toilets are again a common thing here esp during fairs and exhibitions which take place in an open area. the toilets are very clean and dry and from inside you can hardly feel that its a portable thing. The first time I went in one of those I was pleasantly surprised.
From keeping actress names for hair saloons (Hemamalini Hairdressers)…to kattana kazhiparai’s with images of kavarchi Kanni’s.
Enna koduma Kavi idhu! 😀
There’s no place like home…even in extreme situations. And if one really has no other option but to choose, I guess I would opt for Aishwarya… Be Indian, loo Indian.
Wherever we enter, does the way going to change?! lol I think u understand.
The modern mobile toilet could do worth if it works, right.
choking hilarious…home, sweet home is still the slogan for some!:)
neha : “my husband almost became hopeful that I have gone completely mad ;)”
Wow, looks like this post gave someone some hope !!! ;D

Yes, perhaps its time for corporate houses to come forward !

Braja : Pew..!! Phew !! I guess you are back with a bang! Welcome back..you were missed too !!
Ugich Konitari : My God ! What an insightful and piercing look into the snap ! I take a bow.
And yes, perhaps it is for that reason they have those phone numbers over there !

Naperville Mom : Home Sweet Home Indeed !!!!! 😉
Your deadly post and lively comments that ensued, reminded me of a Confuscious quotation : ” Oftentimes, we get pissed off in life ; with Life. But, mind you, it’s better to be ‘ pissed-off’ than to be ‘ pissed on’ ! Distilled wisdom, as addendum !
Kavi, that toilet pic with Kareena was very Madurai.
This is what they call poor man’s porn….paavam Madurai makkal 🙂
I am laughing madly at this 🙂 //At Madurai and some other places, i have seen pictures of Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and hold your breath, Kate Winslet, promote bathrooms & toilets!// amazing observation kavi. Visiting ur blog for the first time! Demonte ma’am — Were you a jeevanite?
